Why dated payments matter
Suppose a $25,000 loan accrues daily interest at 8%. A $500 payment posted on September 1 first covers the interest accrued since August 1; only the remainder reduces principal. The following days accrue interest on the new balance. Multiplying the original $25,000 by all 92 days would overstate interest in this example.
What the statement includes
The preview lists the lender, borrower, reference, starting balance, each dated payment, amounts applied to accrued interest and principal, remaining principal, unpaid interest, per diem, fees, credits, and estimated total through the selected date. When to use a different calculation
- Principal fixed throughout the period: use the simpler payoff statement builder.
- Detailed monthly ledger: use the loan payment history statement.
- Repeated servicing of multiple loans: evaluate Private Loan Manager.
This tool does not decide whether a partial payment should be accepted, held in suspense, applied to fees, or handled differently under your agreement. The dates and allocation assumptions must be verified.
