These calculators provide mathematical estimates for education and planning. Loan agreements, lender practices, fees, taxes, payment dates, and rounding can change actual results.

How the calculation works

Loan Payoff Calculator explained

This calculator starts with today’s balance instead of reconstructing the original loan. That makes it useful for evaluating a new extra-payment plan.

The current payment must be large enough to cover interest and reduce principal. Otherwise, the loan will not amortize.

The estimate assumes a fixed rate and consistent monthly payments until payoff.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the original loan term?

No. The calculator uses the current balance, rate, and payment to project forward.

What if my payment includes escrow?

Enter only the principal-and-interest portion. Taxes, insurance, and escrow do not reduce the loan balance.

Can the payoff date differ from the lender quote?

Yes. Payment dates, daily interest, fees, rate changes, and rounding can change the official payoff amount.
